Carolina Beach/ Mother's Day Weekend

Despite being on a Trauma rotation, Mike, Jen and Mason were able to find three days to head down to Carolina Beach over Mother's Day weekend on a whim (booked hotel Wednesday night and left Friday morning- adventurous). It was an awesome weekend. A weekend of firsts and a weekend filled with many memories never to be forgotten. Mason saw the ocean, played in the ocean and dug in the sand for the first time! He even attempted to stick his toes in the pool but as you can see in the picture above, attempt is all he could muster because the water was freezing despite being a warm 78 degrees outside. Our hotel was located on the beach. We only had to walk 10 steps before we hit the sand. Amazing. We rented a beach cabana (an umbrella with chairs) and chilled for hours. Don't worry Mason was lathered up in 50 SPF sunscreen under his floppy sun hat, swim trunks and wet suit/t-shirt. SO CUTE! Daddy, however, put sunscreen on to late and burned the right side of his body:( On Saturday night we hit the boardwalk after enjoying some Italian food. Mason loved the lights on the rides and games. Mike found a popular local doughnut stand and got down on some glazed holes. For Mother's Day we ate brunch at a restaurant on the water, beautiful. Then we took a stroll down the beach before heading home. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend even if we had planned it months in advanced;)
