Charleston, SC Part 1

Mike had a week off so we headed down to Charleston, SC. It truly is the heart of the South filled with so much history and tradition. The first shots of the Civil war were fired here! Can you believe that? We stayed in two beautiful hotels right in the middle of downtown. One hotel was across the street from the famous Open Air Market. We bought our first pieces of art work for our walls there. The second hotel was on magnificent King Street, home to many high end shops and restaurants and just minutes from the waterfront. In fact we stayed on the tenth floor and had a corner room, so we had a 180 degree view of the harbor! So beautiful:) One day we took a mule drawn carriage tour through the city and got the low down on all the history and traditions the city had to offer. We saw things like Battery Park, located down on the waterfront where no home sells for less than a million bucks and is no younger than 75 years old. Some of the streets are still contain the original cobble stone pavement. While there we also discovered great yellow curry, which we both having been dying for since leaving CA. To wrap things up, we attended a Spearhead/John Mayor concert. All and all a great relaxing vacay.
